A Few Good Monsters

I watched Monsters Inc. this afternoon.

I got home from work, and while I was preparing my sandwich, I decided to watch a movie. Having a quick browse through the DVDs I could find, I settled on this lovable children's movie rather easily.

Here are a few facts from this awesome film.

> Sulley's fur has over 2,320,413 hairs.

> Randall's original name was Ned.

> After Sulley says goodbye to Boo, he closes the closet door. When Boo jumps out of bed, she has grown 7% by the time she reaches the door. The programmers had to do this as she was too short.

> The ingredient list on the cereal that Sulley feeds Boo is as follows: Tentacles (includes suckers), sugar pods, gelatin, artificial flavor, artificial color (Yellow 53 & 54, Red 400, Blue 21, Plaid 16, Puce 30), salt, seawater, naturally occurring mercury, barium, sulfuric acid, lead, bile, blood, sweat, tears, zinc oxide, vitamins D & F, anemone, brine shrimp, coral, plankton, deadly pufferfish, depleted uranium (to preserve freshness).

> It normally took 11 to 12 hours to render a single frame of Sulley because of his 2.3 million individually animated hair strands.

It's pretty amazing how much work animators, writers, draftsmen, scriptwriters and all other staff put into making these films. Especially at Pixar Studios, where they often have gags, characters, objects, themes and things recurring throughout many of their films. I love it. You really can "feel the love" put into these films by those who work on them. I guess that's the prime reason why Pixar films are so popular and successful: they are passionate works of art made for others to love and enjoy.

Yes, I realise this was a pretty bland post, but I felt like heaping praise on aforementioned film studio, so I did.

I Think Not!!

You know,
In the Bible it says that "broad is the way and wide is the path that leads to destruction, and there be many that follow it". Thus, a word commonly tossed around in Christian circles to refer to the path of damnation is "the broad way".

Also, the famous street (it is a street, right Tiph?) in New York City where all kinds of glamorous showbiz dreams are made and broken is called "Broadway".

Ever notice the connection? How many actors start off great, but later on spiral into debauchery and depression? Such promising lives and talent fall into pieces as a result of the cruel world of entertainment. I think it is fit to say that "Broadway may lead to destruction" too.

That is my thought of today.

No Noose Is Good Noose

Hi.
Being the ever-hungry person I am, I just ate a lovely sandwich. Then mum came home and gave me a subway that she'd bought for me. I love food. I love my mum more though. But that's not quite the actual reason this post is bought before you today. The last few days I've been feeling starved of God's prescence in my life...like I'm devoid of any influence from Him at all. After talking with a couple of friends, and going over some stuff from ages ago (like my testimony, old jeke posts, etc) I've been noticing what I think may be what be my likely trouble right about now-ish.

Life has been pretty sweet lately, and as such I've grown confident and proud. Uh-oh. That doesn't sound good. An attitude of "Hey, I can pretty much take care of myself" has arisen. *Warning bells sound*. What happens when one thinks one does not need God to run one's life? Nothing too beneficial, I can tell you that much. Anyhows, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like you to read the following song. It's called "Replace Me", and it's by Family Force 5.

Tonight, that's what I'm going to be asking the Lord to do with me. Tommorrow I'm going to ask Him to keep it up. The day after, I'm going to ask Him to not let me slip away from this. I've got to stop forging my own path through this hectic world, and follow the path that He's drawn up for me with His wonderful redemption plan. The chorus (text in bold) is what I need right now...there is no other word for it except desperation...desperation to be made new. Whatever it needs to be done, I want God to do it...if He needs to crush me, or tear me, if He needs to break and mould me, so be it.

Lord, take and replace me, with you. May it be no longer I that liveth, but Christ that liveth in me.
